Default LFG for mission, no assassins!

I don't mean to offend anyone, but that us what I feel. A vast majority think that they are better than tanks, and rush in farther than tank them, and get killed. I know there are some people here who play assassin, and don't, but I'm sure those exact same people would agree with me.

There already is tons of threads about assassins. They are a new class, and players seem to play them more like warriors.

Give it some time

this aint that simple - assasins are shadowstep'ing into spree so they are not possible to heal/protect by teams monk thats why they get killed so often. and 70 pts of armor makes them softies:P

From time playing assassins during FPE, my general opinion is that they are not a weak pve class... they do a lot of damage, but can't tank... not a problem.

Imho, bring aura of displacement as elite, let tank aggro, warp in and start kicking the backline mobs around once target is set on warrior. If you get targetted, cancel and warp back out.

Currently, people do not know how to play assassins. They make me cry as they rush straight at the enemy, using their fox fangs and jungle strikes in a fashion remniscient of mending wammos using seeking blade.

is it just me, or a A/Me seems to be a very nice combo? im yet to make an assassin tho.

also, is it possible to increase attack speed on assassin? afaik, daggers are 1 hit for 1.33sec, is it possible to reduce the time? if it is, im sooooo making an A/Me

quite offtopic aint it

I completely agree. Activate a skill with shadow step, scurry into the fray, pull off a combo and poof out!

There is no assasin skill that increases attack speed, but there is the assasains natural ability to dual attack (randomly attacking with both daggers). I'm not just talking about dual strike attacks in the combo chain, but assasains can simply double strike, giving them a natural speed buff of sorts. Say in the time it takes to do 4 attacks, u dual strike once, so you've now done 5 attacks instead of 4 in the same time frame. Higher dagger mastery increases your odds of doing this. Granted, daggers don't really do much dmg, but if u have vamp or zealous mods on this really helps. If it's an attack speed buff though like tigers furry or frenzy your after, I haven't seen any for assasain class, so you'll have to use another profeshion for your secondary for this. Hope this helps.

I also agree, this could also be useful in pve builds that include trappers? I think that if you were targeted, then went back, the agro would go right to the traps. Either way, it works

That wouldn't work so well with a Trapper, Snype, as all traps are "easily interruptable". Maybe if they had Trappers Focus, but...

Also, I agree that there's basically 2 kinds of assassins in the game right now. There's the ones that are pretty compitent, are careful about aggro, and can deal a huge ammount of damage to a single target, which can save the party easily.

Then, there's the others that have no idea what the assassin is like, but still try to force them into their C Space ideology, which is leathal to Sins. I'm even hearing horror stories of A/Mo self mendingers. Because, we all know, that a constant +4 pip regen is going to keep you alive when you've got 20 baddies beating on your AL 70 armor. </Sarcasm>

I guess all that you can do is just ask your group about how they fight. If they're being cryptic about it, or giving dodgey answers, you probably don't want them in your party anyway.

I have a friend with a Trappersin and it DOES work. Trap BEFORE aggroing and you're good to go.

Eeek! A/Mo should be used with cond/hex removal to prevent combo shutdowns (blind, etc). Scourge healing is also nice for cutting up annoying monk bosses.

If you have played City of Heroes, Assassins = Scrappers, only in GW Assassins don't get Instant Healing to make them tank like.

Assassins are not designed to be frontline fighters, that role still belongs to warriors. They are not alpha strikers either, that role still belongs to rangers.

The best role for the assassins is protector of the back line. In PvE when you attack a mob, the mob usually responds by sending the warriors in to attack your groups squishies (epecially the monks). It should be the role of the assassin(s) on the team to get those warriors down first.

It doesn't help that the Assassin Henchies seem to be programmed to play the same as warriors, which is why they seem to die the most (and why I stopped taking the assassin henchies).

Well, this seems like a good spot for my first post

I've been in Tyria for quite some time, I've beaten everything besides Titan quests with three characters (gonna start those soon). When Factions came out I quickly made an assassin, and regretted it as soon as I reached the mainland. I was stuck henching for most of the quests, and that depressed me even more. The AI is horrible, at least for an Assassin, but I found myself getting by. Anyway, I now do alliance battles as well as PvE, and have figured out the ins and outs of this screwed up character.

Choose targets carefully: I'll let the tanks start the engagement, look for the one thats gonna bother us, sharpen daggers, and take them out. Then I target my monk, use return, and regen for the next snipe.

I am not a tank: This is simple, I dont take hits very well. I hate getting targeted, be it PvP or PvE, and will abort as soon as I am. I hate wanna-be's that try to tank with assassins, you give us bad reps. Shame on you.

I've switched my 2ndary to Monk, for the simple reason that I need to heal myself most of the time, why is this? Cant we get a Vigorous Spirit on occasion? It would go a long way with our attack rate. I also don't like the discrimination against azz, though I see where it comes from.

IWAY: I can't even count how many Bambi Assassins are running around Cantha. These "assassins" are the ones that try to tank, thinking they're back in PvP. If I'm wrong, go ahead and correct me, but thats how I see it. Nevertheless, I really feel like a tank stuck in monks armor...I deal tons of damage, but I am a soft target, with little defense that needs to avoid getting singled out. What bothers me is how easily I go down, even following these rules. Dwanya forbid I get heavy-hexed, I can get out of the fight, but I drop dead shortly thereafter.

If all goes well, I run this build pretty well I think. But it doesn't take much to ruin us, and that I get really sick of sometimes. Im off to buy more ale now.

No competent player tanks in PvP, all the good PvP players know that tanks suck.

My biggest beef is as said.. I'll be standing in town forming an alliance mission group.. and ask in local chat for a Tank, i get 40 assassins that want to join group.. and i actually had one flame me in local chat because i wouldn't take him into the group. First off i told him in whisper that he's not a tank, a A/Rt is not the same as a W/X... then the person starts laying into me on public channel.. calling me a noob and what not, I've never had problems before with people but ever since Factions was released, it seems that this is what's in every town, and it's always people playing assassins that start that crap. I'm not flaming anyone or anything I've played with several good assassins, but most run in way too deep don't do any damage and die.. the curse out the monks for not healing them, and that makes me sick. People that know me, know that I get along with everyone, but when a monk says don't go so deep i can't heal you and they insist on going further into aggro and then flame the monk for not being able to keep them alive that's just pathetic. And it seems that for the most part those are the players that they die once and rage quit. /end rant.

ill keep this short because everyone seems to be writing an essay... assasins are NOT tanks.. they are tactical close range offense... they are WEAK in defense when compared to a warrior.... they WILL NEVER replace tanks. They do damage but if you are playing in dmg heavy area and need tanks i suggest u drop the assassin get a warrior or atleast a minion master

Simple most assassins= the same whammos who did the same exact thing in tyria(overextend then whine the monks didnt heal them and rage quit) and that was why they all got stuck bragging about their troll and ettins soloing abilities while the rest of us went on to do spider caves(fow) mursaat and other soloable more rewarding enemies.

My advice before joining an assassin ask him how he handles combat; if he says kite in hit a caster then get out you have a good player, if he says "I can do lots of damage I know what I am doing" you have an idiot who is gonna rush dont take him.

Aggreed, most Assasin play wrong, i have an assasin and let the warrior tank, then get myself warped to the back of the enemy group to take out monks/mesmers, spell casters in general and thats of how the assasin whas mend to be in the first place imo.

ow and on an second note, what the hell is an wammo? and since when does mending help when you get ur ass kicked when serving as an tank?

Unfortunately I have to agree on too many assassins being in the game for starters. I really regret making an assassin now that I cannot find groups that will trust assassins not to ruin the mission. So i'm making a necro/ritualist, going good so far, level 14. I like the new looks and armor for necros. I hope that I can find some groups when I get to the harder missions.

As for my assassin, i'll try to pass the missions I guess, but the henchies don't do to well sometimes.

I think that what the problem here is is that many of these super-below-acceptable-playing-level Assassins are completely new to the game. They probably have no idea what "kiting" is, and probably would have a hard time understanding it if you explained it to them. Granted, I believe that a lot of them are just wannabe Narutos and only have the class for thier own needs and the rest of the party be damned, but I've seen a few out there that are putting forth an honest effort, and they don't complain when they get owned for the ninth time in a row. This game is a lot harder than Prophecies is, and they've got one heck of a steep learning curve to climb before they can even begin to not suck.

I say, let them into your party, but be prepared to try and help them figure out what their class is about. Because, having a heavy damage dealer pick off the badies quickly is a very handy thing to have.

i hardly use deaths charge tbh. 1 because of its energy cost and 2 because it often puts me in a place where i then take lots of agro. the only ss skill i have equipped is vipers defence.

i agree with assassins not being tanks and its really annoying to find noone wants you in their group cause they think youre just going to die alot. probably the reason why i went on with the tyria missions first, they like assassins there

ive been playing this class for a while now and i really like it as its a really nice class for doing a ton of damage real fast. on tyria ive been using it alot to qf with and most, if not all, of the time i kill stuff almost twice as fast as the warrior does. i just stay back a little and let the warrior take aggro, anything that heads towards the casters on my team is mine. its nice to see people compliment you cause you saved their monk.

imo assassins are awesome 1v1 pve'ers. not sure how they do in pvp as i havent tried that yet with it.
